Getting around Kangaroo Island (map & drive times)
Stay near Vivonne Bay for quick access to the dunes, bushland and the calm Harriet River. Allow about 1 hour 30 minutes’ drive from the Penneshaw ferry to Vivonne Bay and around 50 minutes to Kingscote. Hiring a car gives you the flexibility to explore at your own rhythm.

Ride a Yamaha Viking Buggy
Head into Little Sahara’s inland dunes with an experienced guide. Koala sightings are guaranteed on every buggy tour. Choose from 50, 110 or 170 minutes. All safety gear is included: seatbelts, roll cage, helmets and goggles. Your guide will be your driver.
Toboggan the Dunes
Pick up a sandboard or toboggan and glide down the iconic slopes. The team will show you how to wax your board and ride with confidence. Helmet hire available. A great add-on before or after another activity.
Guided E-Bike Adventure
Follow your guide along the riverbanks and across sand on electric fat bikes built for all terrains. Duration: 110 minutes. Minimum height: 120 cm. If you know how to ride a bike, you’re set. Helmets and gloves included.
Close-up Wildlife & Eco Experiences
Koala Walks under the Gums
Stroll beneath tall gum trees along the Eleanor River with a local guide. Koala sightings are guaranteed and children under six join for free. Choose a 110-minute daytime walk or a 110-minute After-Hours option for golden light.
Guided Quad Bike Rides
Set off from our Vivonne Bay base and ride through open grassland and native bush. Pick the 110-minute All Terrain tour for a mix of tracks, or the 170-minute Edge of the Earth for a longer coastal run to a secluded beach. Every ride is guided, with a clear safety briefing plus helmets and gloves provided.

Behind the Scenes Honey Tour
Head to Island Beehive in Kingscote, home of The Kangaroo Island Ligurian Bee Co. Join a 30-minute guided tour through the factory, see how the honey is extracted, hear the story of the pure Ligurian bee, then finish with honey tasting and a honey ice-cream. Open daily.
Beekeeping Experience
Put on a beekeeping suit and step up close with KI Ligurian Bee Co for a 90-minute, hands-on session. Learn how a hive works, hold frames full of bees and see the honey-making process in real time. Small group sizes keep it relaxed and easy to ask questions.

Getting here: Allow about 1 hour 30 minutes to drive from Penneshaw to Vivonne Bay. Self-drive is the easiest way to link several Kangaroo Island activities into one day.
What to wear: Wear closed-in shoes for all tours, long pants for quad biking and sun protection year-round. We provide wet-weather gear when conditions change.
