Seasonal Stories: The Winter Solo Circuit is a fully guided winter journey across bushland, dunes and into the world of honey — designed for one, with your guide expecting you.
Across one day or throughout your stay, you’ll experience three distinct Kangaroo Island adventures shaped by the winter season.
Ride a quad with Kangaroo Island Outdoor Action on a 110-minute guided tour through winter-green bushland and inland tracks. The air smells fresh after rain, the earth darker under tyre lines, and the sounds of wind through scrub feel sharper in the cooler months.
At Little Sahara Adventure Centre, join a 110-minute buggy tour across sweeping dunes toward views of the wild Southern Ocean. Winter brings space to slow down and embrace the swell. Before or after your buggy experience, sandboard the cool, windswept slopes.
Then step inside Island Beehive in Kingscote for a 30-minute behind-the-scenes organic honey experience. In place of the usual ice cream, winter brings something warmer — a handcrafted nougat gift, rich with local honey.
As you move between locations, your guides share what you’ve discovered with the next host. Like visiting friends of friends, each stop already knows you. Seamlessly booked through one operator, who organises the rest for you, the experience feels effortless from start to finish.
It’s solo travel — with connection.

Buckle up and let your Guide showcase beautiful Little Sahara to you. Ride in a Yamaha Viking UTV Buggy through picturesque scenery that few visitors are privileged enough to see. Begin in the natural scrub along the banks of the Eleanor River, looking up into the 500 year old South Australian blue gums for koalas – we GUARANTEE you will see them, or your money back! Learn about the flora, fauna and history of the area from your knowledgeable Guide and make your way to the edge of the Earth! When you reach the wild coastline you’ll marvel at the beauty of the rugged cliffs, turquoise waters and huge swell. You’ll get to go to a stunning and otherwise inaccessible beach where there will be nothing between you and Antarctica besides the vast Southern Ocean.
Finish off with a ride through the unique desert-like landscape of Little Sahara. This 2.5 square kilometre natural inland sand dune system boasts dunes up to 70m above sea level and is recognised as a National Geological Monument and Heritage Listed Site.
This is the perfect tour for anyone wanting to just sit back and enjoy an adventure through nature.
And with unlimited use of the boarding, you can come back again and again, giving you time to perfect your style on the dunes.
At Kangaroo Island Outdoor Action – 188 Jetty Road, Vivonne Bay
The All Terrain Quad Adventure is designed to give you more time on the quad bike to experience the wide variety of terrain we have on offer. We’ll guide you through sand and gravel tracks, open grassland, winding tracks through native bush, and more technical rocky tracks to test your ability. The All Terrain Quad Adventure is 110 minutes in duration and includes a half hour setup, safety brief and training on the practice track – no experience necessary.
At Island Beehive home of The Kangaroo Island Ligurian Bee Co – 59 Playford Highway, Kingscote
The 30 minute guided tours give you a behind the scenes look into how the protected Ligurian bees turn nectar into the honey we know and love.
Discover the history of our bees, explore the honey extracting facility, and indulge in a personalised honey tasting experience.
You’ll receive a home-made honey nougat to enjoy on the balcony as you watch the bees return to their hives.
